Description

This Poster celebrates the Space Shuttle Discovery (Orbiter Vehicle Designation OV-103).

The Discovery holds most flight and mission records in the Space Shuttle fleet: most missions flown (39), longest total time in space (365 days), most orbits of Earth (5.830), most miles travelled (148.2 million miles), most satellites deployed (31), and highest number of crew members flown (252). The Discovery is also known for having deployed the famous Hubble Space Telescope.

The Space Shuttle Discovery was named according to a British Royal Navy tradition – several exploration ships have been named HMS Discovery throughout the 18th, 19th and 20th Centuries.
